The BioCoat has received a positive grant notice and startetd its work. Led by DWI – Leibniz-Institut für Interaktive Materialien the project focuses on biobased coatings.
The BioCoat project aims to develop a platform technology for protein-based adhesion promoters in combination with functional proteins and peptides in order to apply a bio- or protein-based coating (e.g. antimicrobial or hydrophilic) on biobased textiles. At project completion the team aims to demonstrate the textile swatches that exhibits target performance as a proof of concept for bio-based textile finishes.
