The project GOLD has received a positive grant notice and started its work. Led by Mimotype Technologies GmbH, WINT Design Lab and FILK, GOLD focuses on creating a demonstrator based on natural Goldschlägerhaut (Goldbeater’s skin) to communicate the long-term vision of biofabricated textiles.
Generally, GOLD aims at demonstrating the rapid and cost-efficient development of a novel collagen-derived biomaterial for high-performance and next-gen consumer-oriented fabrics and textiles. The main goal of the GOLD project is to anlayse the so-called “Goldschlägerhaut” (Goldbeater’s skin) mechanically, structurally and genetically down to the molecular level. Furthermore, GOLD will generate a physical prototype wearable based on native tissue.
