The BioBase project has accomplished stunning results during its duration. The aim of the project was to establish bio-based polymers from available resources as a cost-competitive alternative to synthetic polymers. Synthetic polymers are still subject to various ecological risks because of their dependence on fossil raw materials, which shows that bio-based alternatives are urgently needed.
Through their remarkable research, the project made it possible to successfully develop demonstrators made from bio-based polymers for three out of four textile application fields: automotive, geotextiles, sports, and interior.
