ABOUT THE PROJECT
In the BIOTURF research project, a project team led by the
TFI – Institute for Soil Systems and the ITA, Institute for Textile Technology at RWTH Aachen University over the past two years has developed a sports surface made of bio-polyethylene which also manages without environmentally hazardous microplastic infill. This new development has the potential to replace conventional artificial turf surfaces made from petroleum-based synthetic fibres.
