Insight Session: BioBase, 19 April 2024, 3 p.m.
The BIOTEXFUTURE Project BioBase developed a bio-based alternative from available resources for textile applications with competitive costs and properties. On 19 April 2024, 15.00 h the project leads will present their final results and discuss their finding with BIOTEXFUTURE Members.
The BioBase – Project:
Fibers and textiles are used in the four key textile industries of technical textiles, sports textiles, automotive and interiors. In 2019, global fiber production amounted to more than 110 million tons. Of these, 72% are man-made fibers based on natural or synthetic polymers (plastics). A key problem in the production of man-made fibers based on synthetic polymers is the dependence on fossil raw materials, which are subject to various ecological and, in the long term, economic and political risks due to their finite nature. Polymers based on renewable raw materials represent an alternative. The aim of the work conducted by the eleven partners of the BioBase project was to establish biobased polymers in the textile industry and to demonstrate their full potential.
The Insight Session #4 – 2024 is an online webinar.
